May Chen is a Washington State–licensed Certified Public Accountant and a Partner at Arbor Partners, where she leads the firm's nonprofit and tax-exempt organization practice. She advises private foundations, public charities, and mission-driven organizations on formation, compliance, governance, and tax planning.

Her work covers Form 990 reporting, nonprofit structuring, unrelated business income analysis, and planning for both institutions and their donors. May has particular depth with arts, culture, and education organizations, where technical compliance has to line up with mission, funding, and governance at the same time.

Beyond client service, May provides pro bono support to emerging nonprofit leaders and stays engaged with initiatives that strengthen the charitable sector.

Prior to joining Arbor Partners, May was a tax manager for tax-exempt organizations at Deloitte, advising charitable clients on tax, compliance, and financial reporting matters.
